I felt overwhelmed as I went over my to-do list in my head during my morning walk. I seemed to never have enough hours in the day to do everything I needed to, let alone find the time to do what I really wanted.
I’ve been there before, feeling like no matter what I did, I couldn’t catch up. What changed everything for me was learning the power of habit stacking: combining small, intentional habits into my daily routine so I could simplify my life as a busy woman.
In this blog, I’m sharing the five habits that helped me simplify life as a busy woman, and how you can try them too.
🌿 Simplify Your Life: House, Wardrobe & Routine
This one was the most difficult to accomplish, but it had the biggest overall impact, so I want to encourage you to give it a try.
Once I learned that we only have a limited number of decisions to make each day, and that decision fatigue is a real thing that impacts our lives, I started making decisions that ‘future me’ would thank me for.
- House – I was in a position to get help with cooked dinners and cleaning, so I did. But if you’re not in the same position, consider creating a quick, effortless cleaning routine and using crockpot meals that you can freeze for leftovers.
- Wardrobe – I put together eight outfits for work and rotated them. Each one was comfortable, made me feel good, and was something I loved to wear. This simple system boosted my self-confidence.
- Routine – I created a rough outline for my mornings, daily tasks, and weekly reset. I’m not someone who enjoys strict routines, but life naturally pushes us into patterns, so I used that to my advantage.
Simplifying my life at this level gave me more breathing room — but mornings were still a struggle. That’s where the next habit changed everything.
🌿 How a Specific Morning Routine Simplifies Life
Once I learned about decision fatigue and how it impacts us in the long term, I decided to nail down my morning routine. My goal was to use as few decisions as possible before leaving for work. This meant doing some planning and prep the evening before, but the overall impact was completely worth it.
I also streamlined my make-up and hair routine to be under 10 minutes. When I was done, I looked just as good and confident as I felt, and it was well worth the time I spent researching simple tips to get there.
Of course, mornings are only one piece of the puzzle. The next shift came when I started focusing on my health.
🌿 Focus on Health to Simplify Your Busy Days
This one took me a while to truly grasp. But being in my mid-40s, my body started acting up, and I knew I had to get my diet under control.
It’s not about having an all-or-nothing mindset, but I realized that when I cut out certain foods that impact my body negatively, everything changes. I sleep better, I have more energy throughout the day, and my mind feels clearer.

Taking care of my health gave me energy, but I noticed my environment still played a big role in how calm or chaotic my days felt. That’s when I added the next habit.
🌿 Reset Your House Daily for a Clutter-Free Life
As I’ve mentioned before, I can’t always say I do this in the mornings or evenings, it really depends on what’s happening on a given day. What I do know is that when I make the time to clear flat surfaces of papers and “stuff,” reset the lounge, or throw in a quick load of laundry, my house never turns into an out-of-control cluttered mess.
And if I have an especially rough week and don’t get to it? It shows, but it’s never overwhelming.
Keeping the house under control made daily life smoother, but I still needed a way to recharge myself. That’s where my weekly “mojo reset” came in.

The idea is simple: work small self-care habits into your daily shower or your evening unwind routine, so they don’t feel like extra tasks. Then, once a week (or even every other week), dedicate a little extra time to more detailed self-care. This practice helps boost your confidence and leaves you feeling refreshed, and confidence shines through in every situation.
🌿 Conclusion
This is a short summary of the five pillars I focus on for a simplified life. If you take the time to figure out what each of these pillars could look like for you in your current season of life, I can almost promise you’ll begin to find the calm and peace you’ve been searching for in the middle of the overwhelm.
