When Andrew surprised me with plants, I knew I needed to get the soil right. Good intentions mean nothing if the foundation is wrong.
Andrew did his research. He actually consulted ChatGPT to find out what potting mix for indoor plants works best for pothos and snake plants specifically. The answer came back clearly. Peat moss and pearl rock are the combination these plants need to thrive indoors.
Peat moss retains just enough moisture without becoming waterlogged. Pearl rock, also known as perlite, improves drainage and stops roots from sitting in wet soil. Together they create the ideal growing environment for low maintenance indoor plants like pothos and snake plants.
This premium potting mix for indoor plants ticks both boxes. It contains peat moss, pearl rock and pumice stone. The pH is adjusted to between 5.5 and 6.5 which supports optimal nutrient uptake. That means the liquid plant food I add actually gets absorbed properly instead of going to waste.
I am not a soil expert. I am a woman who missed her garden and is figuring this out one intentional step at a time. But I trust the research Andrew did and I trust that starting with the right potting mix gives my plants the best possible foundation.
Starting fresh with the right tools matters. Whether it is a new habit, a home reset or a new plant, the foundation you build on makes all the difference.
If you are just starting your indoor plant journey like me, do not skip the soil. It is the one thing that sets your plants up to actually survive and grow.
